The New Addition to Our Family

On Sunday, September 5th at 3:17 a.m. little Miss Cameron decided to make her entrance into the world.  What a story we will have to tell her when she grows up about the night before her birth.  On Saturday, September 4th it was the first game of the season for TCU vs. Oregon St. at the new Cowboy Stadium.  Steve had debated for months if he should get a ticket to the game because it was so close to my due date (September 10th).  So a few weeks prior to the game he decided to get a ticket and we joked about the odds of me going into labor that day not thinking that it would happen...well it did!

Steve left for the game around 3:00 in a party bus with several of our friends and about that same time my mom and I were out shopping and I thought my water might have broke so I came home and waited a little while before calling the doctor to see if I needed to go to the hospital to get checked out.  To be on the safe side we decided to head to the hospital.  I had not called Steve yet to tell him I was going because I didn't want to worry him if it was just a false alarm.  So we get to the hospital around 7:30 p.m. and find out that I am already 3 cm dilated...the nurse wanted to wait an hour to see if I progress any further and if I did then we would know that I was in active labor.  At this point I call Steve while he is at the game to let him know I was at the hospital, but not to panic just yet and that I would call in an hour to see what our next steps needed to be.  Well in an hour I had progressed to 4 1/2 cm, this meant we were going to be having this baby!

I make the call to Steve to let him know that I was in active labor that he needed to start making his way to the hospital.  Remember that he had taken a party bus out to the game and didn't have any transportation of his own.  I told him that he didn't need to rush because it wasn't going to be happening in the next hour but once we hung up panic began to set in with Steve and he ran as fast as he could to find a cab that could get him to the hospital.  He arrived at the hospital around 10:00 p.m. and from that point I progressed pretty quickly and we had Cameron Leigh Cung at 3:17 a.m. weighing in at 7 lb. 12 oz. 20 inches.
We are truly blessed with this precious little girl and it is hard to remember life before her arrival.
